PRESTONSBURG – The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jessica Breanne McLeod on several criminal charges Monday. McLeod was charged with criminal abuse second degree, disorderly conduct second degree, cruelty to animals second degree, and wanton endangerment second degree.
Police arrived at the residence to respond to a verbal argument between the landlord and McLeod, who was the renter. McLeod told police she had recently went out of town for two weeks and left the cats alone in the home with no one to feed or care for them in her absence.
Police notified the Department of Protection and Permanency due to the living conditions of the children in the home being unsuitable. While police were at the home, one of the children fell and McLeod did not attend to the child or check on his condition. Police also found broken glass scattered in the childrens’ play area.
While investigating at the home, police found a jar with a clear liquid. McLeod informed the police the liquid was moonshine. The jar of moonshine was also found in the childrens’ play area.
McLeod remains in the Floyd County Detention Center.
