PRESTONSBURG – Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) and the Mountain Arts Center (MAC) will host a summer vocal camp featuring Ron and Chery Brendel on July 25-28 at the MAC.
The Brendels are internationally recognized voice instructors from Cleveland, Tenn. Ron, who gained world-wide attention from being the voice coach of 2016 Voice winner – and Harlan native – Jordan Smith, is a faculty member at Lee University. Chery Brendel, also a faculty member at Lee University, has performed all across the United States, as well as Germany and Italy.
“Ron and Cheryl witnessed firsthand the extraordinary talent produced out of the mountains of Eastern Kentucky when they visited earlier this year,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of BSCTC.
The Brendels served as judges during the Big Sandy Idol regional competition at the MAC in March.
The three-day camp, which will include a public performance on July 28, is open to children entering ninth to 12th grades. Registration is $100 and optional private lessons are available for an additional fee.
