Riverview employee accused a stealing patients’ medicine

PRESTONSBURG – Prestonsburg Police Officer Austin King arrested Jaime Bartley of 217 Ziegler Drive, Pikeville on a warrant from Floyd County District Court on Friday.

According to the arrest warrant, the affiant, Will Holbrook of Prestonsburg Police Department, states that on July 15 Jaime Bartley, a LPN at Riverview Health Care Center, allegedly stole the following medications from patients: 87 Gabapentin 800 mg, four Hydrocodone 5/325 mg, one Percocet 7.5 mg, one Hydrocodone 7.5 mg, one Xanax one mg, two Xanax one mg, two Xanax 0.5 mg, one Xanax .25 mg, and one Oxycodone five mg. At the time of these offenses, Bartley was responsible for the care of these adult victims as part of her employment.

Holbrook stated Bartley was found in possession of medication logs for several Riverview Health Care Center patients laying against the building of Cardinal Country Store at Jenny Wiley Village. She was under the influence of a controlled substance or other intoxicating substance to the point she was endangering herself and others.

According to police documents, upon Bartley’s arrest by Holbrook and Assistant Chief Gerald Clark, she was in possession of all the missing medication contained in containers used by Riverview Health Care Center for the purpose of dispensing to patients.

Bartley was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, first degree first offense (Opiates); possession of a controlled substance, third degree – drug unspecified; illegal possession of a legend drug; prescription controlled substance not in proper container, first offense; theft by unlawful taking under $500; theft of legend drug, first offense or value under $300; knowingly/wanton/reckless exploit of adult by person under $300; public intoxication of controlled substance (excludes alcohol).

She was released on $5,000 surety bond on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Conditions of her release are as follows: not to violate any local, state, or federal laws; not to consume any alcohol or illegal drugs; report to pretrial services; undergo random drug testing; have no contact with location of alleged offense; stay off Riverview Health Care Center property; no illegal use of alcohol or controlled substances and make all scheduled court appearances.

Bartley is scheduled to appear in court at 9:30 a.m. on August 3.
