STANVILLE – Following an anonymous tip, Floyd County Sheriff’s Department arrested Gregory “Leelee” Thompson at 2:30 a.m. on July 9 at the Marathon in Stanville.

Deputies from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department staked out the Stanville gas station where the informant said Thompson visited every night around the same time. The deputies had witnessed Thompson there on an earlier date, but he had fled on foot.

According to the complaint warrant, Floyd County Deputy Landon Hall stated the defendant committed the offense of third degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking over $500 when he broke into the maintenance van at Clayton Homes and stole numerous power tools valued over $1000.

According to the arrest citation, Floyd County Deputy Oliver Little stated that during Thompson’s arrest he told deputies he had committed the theft because he was upset they would not hire him.

Thompson was released on $10,000 cash bond on July 9. He is scheduled to appear back in Floyd County District Court at 9:30 a.m. on July 27.

Hall was the lead investigator on the case and received assistance from Little.
