PIKEVILLE – The University of Pikeville has announced the appointment of Barry Bentley as the vice president for finance and business affairs.
Bentley comes to UPIKE with more than 25 years of comprehensive experience in finance, consulting and accounting management for both not-for-profit and for-profit organizations.
“Barry Bentley’s broad financial experience and personal integrity make him the ideal choice to lead the University of Pikeville’s offices of financial and business affairs,” said Burton J. Webb, Ph.D., president. “We are pleased that he and his wife have chosen to follow their calling to serve the people of Central Appalachia by joining the UPIKE family.”
Previously, Bentley was the vice president of finance and chief financial officer for Metropolitan Indianapolis Public Broadcasting, Inc., where he provided leadership in finance, accounting and facilities management for WFYI Public Media, the Indianapolis affiliate of PBS and NPR.
Bentley’s diverse background in finance also includes cash management, lender/creditor negotiations, budgeting/forecasting, project management, investment analysis and facilities and real estate management.
A certified public accountant, Bentley earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and management and his Master of Business Administration from Anderson University in Anderson, Ind.
“My wife, Cyndee, and I are very excited about me joining the team here at UPIKE,” said Bentley. “The people we have met here in the community and at the university have been fantastic and it is already starting to feel like home even though this is only our second week here. We never expected to move away from our home in central Indiana but we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to come to UPIKE and be a part of these exciting times for the university.”
Bentley and his wife have two children, Jessica and Tyler, and a granddaughter, Ayla.
