MELVIN – Scottie Dewayne Tackett, of Melvin, is once again behind bars thanks to tips given to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department’s Tip Line. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department has been diligently working to rid the county of drug traffickers.
On Friday night, Floyd County Deputies arrested Tackett on three counts of first-degree illegal drug trafficking, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and additional charges may be coming.
Thanks to the citizens of Floyd County, deputies acted on a tip from the tip line that stated an alleged illegal drug trafficker was seen in the Melvin area driving a black Dodge Charger.
Deputies spotted Tackett in the parking lot between Hall’s Market and the Dollar General in Wheelwright. When deputies approached Tackett he was standing at the back of the vehicle with the trunk open. He appeared to have a line of white powdery substance laying inside the trunk of the vehicle.
Deputies arrested Tackett without incident. He was found with one-half gram of cocaine, 2,167 pills including Morphine and Xanax, 80 Suboxone packs, one 38 handgun, $10,034 and two muzzle loaders. Police also confiscated the 2010 Dodge Charger Tackett was driving at the time of his arrest.
Tackett is thought to be part of a drug syndicate operating in Floyd County. He is being lodged in the Floyd County Jail.
