PIKEVILLE – The Kentucky Coal Academy (KCA) will host a job fair at Big Sandy Community and Technical College’s (BSCTC) Pikeville Campus 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, to help recruit displaced miners for new jobs with Warrior Met Coal Company in Alabama.

Experienced miners, including certified electricians, equipment operators and supervisors from Kentucky and surrounding areas are encouraged to attend the event, at 120 South Riverfill Road, for the opportunity to have a same-day interview. Registration will occur in the Atrium.

“It’s important we find any way possible to identify opportunities that will give displaced miners a chance to get back to work,” said KCA Executive Director Gary Whisman. “We strongly value the well-being of miners and their families, and are committed to continuing to find ways to support them.”

Staff will be on-hand at the job fair to answer questions and provide additional information about KCA’s programs and services, which teach transferable skills that can be used in a variety of jobs. Attendees will also be able to learn more about other pathways to higher education and careers available through programs at BSCTC.
