MELVIN – State Route 466 at mile point two in Melvin will be closed Thursday during which time a new drain tile can be installed. Highway District 12 maintenance specialists will close the road about 8 a.m. and expect it to be re-opened about 4:30 p.m.
According to Minnie Maintenance Superintendent Garland Rogers, the work site where the road will be closed is located above the Weeksbury Post Office.
“We are sorry for the inconvenience,” Rogers said. “But we know that everyone understands. We have to replace these drain tiles when they get old or collapse. If we don’t, then we’ll have water backed up on the road every time it rains. The temporary inconvenience of having the road closed means that we can make our drainage better and the road safer for everybody. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding.”
