Grand Jury hands out indictments on nine individuals

PRESTONSBURG – The Floyd County Grand Jury met Tuesday and handed out indictments on nine individuals.

Jamie Janell Bartley of Pikeville was charged with the following: possession of a controlled substance in the first-degree, theft of a controlled substance and theft of a legend drug first offense. Bartley’s charges are the result of events that took place on July 15 when she allegedly stole medication from her employer, Riverview Nursing Home.

Joy Riley of Pikeville was charged with the following: burglary I in the first-degree and persistent felony offender in the second-degree. Riley’s charges are the result of events that happen on June 5 when she allegedly entered Walmart of Prestonsburg with intent to steal various items.

Steven Barnett of Flat Gap was charged with the following: operating a motor vehicle while license his license were revoked or suspended for driving under the influence. Barnett’s charge is the result of an incident that occurred on March 10 with officers found Barnett driving while under the combined influence of alcohol and other substances. He had two prior convictions of driving under the influence within the past five years.

Gregory Kiser of Pikeville was charged with promoting contraband in the first-degree. His charge is the result of an incident that occurred on August 11 when it was discovered he tried to smuggle illegal items into the Floyd County Detention Center.

Jessica Wood of Ivel was charged with complicity to fraudulent use of a credit card. Her charge is the result of an incident that occurred on June 16 when she allegedly aided Patrick Valley and BJ Wood by stealing the credit card of Brenda Blackburn and used it without her knowledge or permission.

B J Wood of Ivel was also charged with complicity to fraudulent use of a credit card. Her charge is the result of an incident that occurred on June 16 when he allegedly aided Patrick Valley and Jessica Wood by stealing the credit card of Brenda Blackburn and used it without her knowledge or permission.

Patrick Valley of Ivel was the third defendant charged with complicity to fraudulent use of a credit card. Her charge is the result of an incident that occurred on June 16 when he allegedly aided Jessica Wood and B J Wood by stealing the credit card of Brenda Blackburn and used it without her knowledge or permission.

Todra Hamilton of Prestonsburg was charged with burglary in the third-degree. Her charge is the result of an incident that occurred on September 13, 2015 when she unlawfully took property valued under $500 from Walmart.

Terry Jarrell of McDowell was charged with the following: two counts of fleeing or evading police in the first degree, assault in the third degree, and wanton endangerment in the first-degree. His charges are the result of an incident that occurred on August 8 when he disobeyed Prestonsburg Police Officer Ross Shurtleff when he was asked to stop. Jarrell attempted to drive away from Officer Shurtleff with Shurtleff’s arm inside Jarrell’s vehicle and dragging him approximately 10 feet.
