MCDOWELL – The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department opened an investigation Monday into the theft of a county-owned vehicle in the McDowell area.
Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt issued a call for assistance Monday asking the public to offer any information they might have about the theft of a truck belonging to the Floyd County Fiscal Court.
“Deputy Landon Hall is investigating the theft of a pickup truck,” the sheriff’s office stated Monday. “The pickup truck was stolen from a parking lot at Southern Water in the McDowell area off Route 680.”
According to the sheriff’s department, the truck, which was stolen over the weekend, is a white 2000 Ford F-250 with a Kentucky Official license plate marked KN2945.
A second theft is also being investigated according to Hunt, after his office received video footage from a residence along Prater Creek that shows a male subject entering what appears to be a porch area of the home and stealing a Weedeater. Hunt says his office is investigating this and one other theft in the Prater Creek area.
Anyone with information about the theft of the county truck is encouraged to contact the sheriff or investigating officer Deputy Landon Hall, while those with information about the thefts along Prater Creek have been asked to contact the sheriff or Deputy Justin Cooley at (606) 886-6711.
