PRESTONSBURG – Highlands Home Health has announced that Jeanie Arms, RN, COS-C, Quality Assurance Director, and Christy Hamilton, RN, COS-C, Clinical Field Staff Supervisor, received their credentials as COS-C credential holders recently. Arms and Hamilton join a list of less than 50 COS-C recipients in Kentucky and are the first two to receive the credentials in the service areas of Floyd, Johnson and Magoffin counties.
Clinicians who have successfully passed the certification examination are certified by the OASIS Certificate & Competency Board (OCCB) and have earned their Home Care Clinical Specialist – OASIS-C1 (COS-C) credential.
COS-C credential holders are considered leaders in the industry because they utilize their specialty knowledge and experience to better interact with clinicians and providers; understand both basic and more advanced understanding on how to answer OASIS-C1 items using official CMS guidance, ensure their providers receive appropriate reimbursement and accurate case-mix scores, provide direction and instruction to less experienced clinicians in the workplace and demonstrate their expertise daily through auditing and education for other staff members.
Certified clinician specialists are in high demand for their ability to ensure that the agency receives appropriate reimbursement while reducing the risk of liability to the agency by adding that professional credential to their auditing and clinical oversights.
