Fall Harvest set for Saturday

The Floyd County Extension Office will hold its Fall Harvest event on Saturday.


PRESTONSBURG – The leaves are changing colors and the Floyd County Extension Office is set to hold a popular annual event. The Floyd County Extension Office will hold its Fall Harvest from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday.

Extension agents Keith Hackworth, Heather Nelson Coleman and Andrea Johnson will be on hand to discuss the many opportunities the Floyd County Extension Office has to offer. A variety of activities will be showcased during the Fall Harvest.

The quilting group will be doing demonstrations and members of the bee keepers club will be on hand to give a demonstration on how to extract honey. Members of the Floyd County Farmer’s Market will be present and offer fresh fruits and vegetables for sale. Extension agents will also present demonstrations on trapping and identifying various wood samples as well as various leaves.

Floyd County 4-H youth members will also be present with numerous projects.

Inflatables and games for the youth with also be available and local farmer Dwight Slone will show his newest giant pumpkin, which weighs in at 1,468 pounds.

Visitors to the Fall Harvest event will also be able to decorate pumpkins.
