PRESTONSBURG – Prestonsburg Mayor Les Stapleton traveled to Lexington to the 2016 Kentucky League of Cities Conference and Expo on Oct. 5. Nearly 200 city officials from around the state were honored for their educational achievement. Stapleton was among those honored.
The City Officials Training Center is a voluntary education program administered by Kentucky League of Cities. There are three levels of achievement: Level 1 – Achievement in City Governance, Level II – Excellence in City Governance and Level III- Masters of City Governance.
Stapleton continues to look for any opportunity to promote the City of Prestonsburg and improve its quality of life. Promoting tourism, implementing city wide broadband service, promoting local sporting events and bringing more jobs to the area continue to be among his top priorities.
Stapleton participated in training offered by the City Officials Training Center. During this year’s KLC Conference and Expo, Stapleton received the honor of Level I Achievement in City Governance Award. The honor requires the recipient to attend 30 hours of approved training with one hour of ethics training.
