PAINTSVILLE – The Chandlersville Lodge 858 donated $800 to the Operation Helping Hands Radio-Thon, hosted by Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) and WSIP-FM on Saturday, July 18.
“Our friends and neighbors are left to pick up the pieces and some are faced with the daunting task of starting completely over,” said Jimmy Wright, dean of student affairs at BSCTC and member of the Chandlersville Lodge. “We know this money will go directly to aid in the relief and we encourage others to join our community as we begin to rebuild.”
The Operation Helping Hands Radio-Thon was also presented by the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Paintsville/Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, Floyd County Chamber of Commerce and Appalachian Wireless. The event raised more than $60,000. All proceeds benefited the Johnson County Long-Term Recovery Group.
“Our most valuable resource is all around us,” said Joshua Ball, director of college relations at BSCTC. “During this disaster, we have witnessed communities come together, county lines have blurred and we have responded with a unified voice. I firmly believe we will rebuild bigger and stronger than ever.”
