PRESTONSBURG – The Floyd County Sheriff’s office says they realizes that burglary and theft are rampant throughout the county, and are making moves to crack down on the crimes, including adding a new tip line for citizens to call anonymously last week.

A big step in that direction took place this past week when sheriff’s deputies, investigating complaints of missing items around the West Prestonsburg area, recovered some of the stolen property. The stolen items were found at various locations around the county, Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt said.

In addition to the recovered items, Hunt’s investigation also led to a prime suspect for the crimes. His office got an arrest warrant shortly after recovering the items for Kenneth L. Hayden of Dwale.

As of press time, Hayden had not been arrested in connection with the thefts, and the sheriff’s office is now asking that anyone with information as to Hayden’s whereabouts to call them at (606) 886-8506 or call their anonymous tip line at (606) 949-2020.
