ALLEN – PurLux Spa, located at 6511 Ky. Rt. 1428 in Allen, is Floyd County’s premier new full-service spa. Owners Tiffany Lafferty-Johnson and Tonya Johnson are entrepreneurs with a vision. Both owners are originally from Floyd County and purchased the building located in Allen that is also home to Kentucky Power Tumbling and Blaine’s Guns and Bows, in hopes of expanding their business and creating something new for Floyd County.
“We basically outgrew our current space,” said Johnson. “Honestly, we are thrilled Floyd County has accepted us with open arms and it is our intent to give back to the community. We are adding several new services and also opening a cafe that will promote garden to plate dishes. The cafe will promote healthy food, not diet food.”
Lafferty-Johnson is originally from David and specializes in neuromuscular massage therapy. She attended school at Southeastern Institute in Nashville, where she went on to work and studied massage in Phoenix, Arizona and Thailand. While visiting family in Floyd County, she met her partner, Tonya Johnson.
Originally from Bevinsville, Johnson is an engineer. She graduated from the University of Kentucky and in addition to PurLux Spa, she is an executive for a coal company and owns Elite Consulting and TNT Properties. While Lafferty-Johnson focuses on the services offered at PurLux, Johnson’s focus is on creating an atmosphere that is serene, and unlike anything available in Floyd County.
The entrepreneurs, who have traveled the world, saw that Eastern Kentucky was lacking a place where individuals could relax and pamper themselves.
Individuals looking to pamper themselves or give the gift of pampering can choose from services that include massage therapy, facials, nails, lash extensions, professional makeup, spray tanning and hair removal. Med spa services available include Botox by Dr. Sonja Webb. Additional medical spa services will be added once remodeling is complete.
PurLux is adding several new services to its current offerings.
