HUEYSVILLE – Matthew Prater, 25, of Hueysville, is charged with 30 counts of wanton endangerment.
On January 26, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Prater engaged in reckless behavior that created a substantial risk of death or physical injury to 30 individuals when he allegedly operated a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants and nearly collided with a Floyd County school bus.
According to Brian Ratliff of the Wayland Police Department, Prater was traveling in the opposite direction of the school bus when the vehicle he was driving struck the median and nearly struck the bus.
In addition to the 30 counts of wanton endangerment, Prater is also charged with two counts of terroristic threatening -third degree, two counts of menacing, two counts of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Prater, who lists his occupation as unemployed, was released on a $2,000 cash bond on January 27. He is scheduled to appear back in court on April 4 at 9:30 a.m.
