MARTIN – Peter Kummant, M.D., has joined the Martin Clinic at 12579 Main Street in Martin. The clinic is a service of Saint Joseph Martin Hospital, which is a part of KentuckyOne Health.
The Ohio native received his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and earned his M.D. degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia and Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He is board-certified in general surgery.
Kummant served as a general medical officer at both the Philadelphia Naval Hospital and the Naval Hospital on the island of Guam.
In addition, he devoted three years to mission work as a staff physician at St. Joseph’s Mission Hospital in Nyabondo, Kenya, East Africa.
The surgeon and his wife, Dr. Eileen Kummant, who is a primary care physician, are the parents of seven children, ages 10 to 30. Four are birth children; three are adopted.
