PRESTONSBURG — In the third serious car accident in as many weekdays for Prestonsburg, a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on North Lake Drive sent one man to the hospital.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Branham Street and North Lake Drive. A witness from nearby New Reflections salon, who called the accident in to authorities, reported that she saw a white Mazda 3 slow down, possibly to allow another vehicle to pull onto the road.

Officer Gerald Clark with the Prestonsburg Police Department says it seems the red Chevrolet Blazer SUV behind the Mazda had slowed down, when a black Chevy Cobalt rear-ended the SUV and sent it into minor contact with the Mazda.

Among the two occupants in the Mazda, the driver of the SUV, and the two who were in the Cobalt, only the driver of the SUV suffered any injury. He was transported to Highlands Regional Medical Center, complaining of back pain.

Names of those involved and details about the accident have not yet been released.
