PAINTSVILLE – The William G. Duke Golf Scramble will have a new look when it tees off on Thursday, May 15, at StonceCrest golf course in Prestonsburg.

Cassandra McCoy, 23, of Paintsville, was one of several design and technology students on the Mayo campus of Big Sandy Community and Technical College to submit designs for the scramble.

“It’s an honor that they chose my work for the golf scramble,” said McCoy. She graduated on Friday, May 9, with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Design and Technology with specialized tracks in graphic design, interactive design and production design.

Lori Lewis, associate professor of visual communications at BSCTC, said the opportunity to create the logo provided students practical experience.

“I’m proud of all of our students, and I am honored that the logo for the golf scramble was created by one of our own,” she said.

This year’s scramble, which is hosted by the Big Sandy College Educational Foundation, Inc., will benefit the East Kentucky Science Center and Planetarium. For more information on the scramble or to register a team, contact Leslie Bays at (606) 886-7391 or email leslie.bays@kctcs.edu.
