PRESTONSBURG — Floyd County Schools are set to participate in the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program, offering free meals to students during the month of June.


Meals that meet federal nutrition guidelines will be available free of charge for area children.


Prestonsburg Elementary will be offering meals from June 10-12 and June 16-19, May Valley Elementary will be running its program June 9-13 and June 17-20, J. M. Stumbo Elementary will be open June 2-5 and June 9-12, and South Floyd Middle/High School will be providing meals June 9-27.


On each day and at every location, breakfast will be served from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., and lunch from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.


The Summer Food Service Program is free for all children under age 18, and offered in regions with high numbers of children living in low-income households.
