Scott was selected to join an elite cadre of mine rescuers whose “accomplishments and commitment stand out as exceptional in the field of mine rescue said Bruce Waltzman with the National Mining Association (NMA).

An induction ceremony will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, during a banquet to recognize the winners of this year’s competition. It will be held in the Battelle Grand Ballroom of the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The Mine Rescue Hall of Fame was established in 1983 by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) to honor those who have shown exceptional dedication in the field of mine rescue.

The four-day mine rescue competition, which is held in Columbus, Ohio, includes team competitions for Mine Rescue and First-Aid and individual competitions for Bench and Preshift as well as exhibits from companies and suppliers of coal mining equipment and services.

Mine rescue teams and individuals from coal companies throughout the United States compete to validate the effectiveness of teams training regimes and to ensure their readiness in the event they are called upon to aid in the rescue of industry colleagues.
