PRESTONSBURG - Big sandy Community and Technical College’s (BSCTC) homecoming weekend came to and send Sunday with a Gospel show on the Prestonsburg campus.


Organized by BSCTC’s Anniversary Committee, the event featured members of the school’s acclaimed Big Sandy Singers and 5 Miles from Nowhere, a popular local bluegrass group.


Clayton Case, director of Fine Arts at BSCTC says that the kind of traditional music on display Sunday night is what has shaped the region. A region which has, and continues to produce amazing musicians and vocal talen.


The Big Sandy Singers, featuring alumni performers, also was showcased at the event. Directed by Case, the Big Sandy Singers is a student singing ensemble from BSCTC which has performed in front of country music star Naomi Judd and the University of Kentucky men’s basketball coach, John Calipari.


BSCTC spent the weekend in celebrating milestone Anniversaries on its Mayo Campus (75 years), Prestonsburg Community College (50 years) and Big Sandy Community and Technical College (10 years)
