EASTERN — For the second time in two months, a local convenience store was the target of a pair of robbers.
Sh0rtly before 11 p.m., Tuesday, Kentucky State Police received a report of an armed robbery at the Fast Lane store in Eastern.
Police responding to the scene learned that two men entered the business and, while one man brandished a weapon and demanded money, the other kept watch on the store’s entrance. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the two men fled the store on foot, heading toward Route 550.
Police say one man was described as wearing a red, hooded shirt, khaki jeans, work boots and a dark-colored scarf over his face. The other was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a dark scarf over his face.
No one was injured during the incident.
The robbery was similar to another incident at the same business Nov. 23. In the earlier incident, two men entered the business, brandishing weapons and demanding money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes, the men fled the scene on foot.
There are also similar similarities to another robbery this week in Pike County. Shortly before midnight, Monday, two men entered Bella’s Gas N Go, in Freeburn, wearing masks and dark clothing and brandishing weapons. One of the men demanded money and, after receiving an undisclosed amount, both men fled the store on foot.
The latest incident at Eastern is under investigation by KSP Trooper Jake Roberts, while the Pike robbery is being investigated by KSP Trooper Jason McClellan. Anyone with information pertaining to either crime is asked to contact Kentucky State Police at (800) 222-5555 or (606) 433-7711.
