PRESTONSBURG — Big Sandy Community and Technical College will be hosting the Floyd County Early Childhood Fair on Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event will be free for the public, thanks to a grant provided to the Floyd County Community Early Childhood Council.
In addition to a wealth of information, resources, and programs available to parents, the event will feature entertainment from the Cincinnati Circus Group, a petting zoo, pony rides, and door prizes.
Parents will be able to sign their kids up for Head Start, and get their 3- and 4-year-olds screened for speech, vision, hearing, and developmental disabilities. There will be demonstrations about bicycle safety and helmet giveaways.
Representatives will be there from Floyd County Schools, Highlands Regional Medical Center, McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital, UK Extension Family and Consumer Sciences, Carl D. Perkins Job Corps, and numerous other community resources.
Although the majority of the fair’s events and programs are designed for children under five, kids of all ages are welcome to attend and there will be fun things to do for the whole family.
Parents can call (606) 886-2354 for more information.
