PIKEVILLE – The University of Pikeville joins College Goal Kentucky in presenting free FAFSA completions workshops for graduating seniors and their parents. The workshops will be held Saturday, Jan. 11 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 13 from 6-9 p.m., on the UPike campus in Armington Learning Center, Room 010.
“It is important for students to file their 2014-2015 FAFSA as soon as possible to insure they will receive state grants if eligible,” said Judy Bradley, director of student financial services at UPike. “There are also federal programs in which funding depletes very early in the year. This early application can be filed as an estimate by using the “will file” option in addressing the income sections.”
Students are encouraged to attend College Goal Kentucky with a parent or guardian and should bring their own, and their parents’, completed 2013 IRS 1040 tax returns and any other 2013 income and benefit information. If families have not completed their taxes, they are encouraged to bring their 2012 IRS 1040 tax forms and last paycheck stubs from 2013 so that financial aid professionals will be able to demonstrate how to use estimated information to submit the FAFSA and how to update information once taxes are completed.
New and returning students are encouraged to prepare the for the 2014-2015 academic year by filing the 2014-2015 FAFSA as soon as possible.
College Goal Kentucky is sponsored by the Kentucky Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (KASFAA). It is funded by USA Funds, KHEAA and KHESLC and KnowHow2GoKY.org.
