Dr. Clayton Bowman was recently a guest speaker for the Relief Society at the Paintsville Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Wittensville.

The Relief Society is an official auxiliary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly known as the Mormons). It was founded in 1842 in Nauvoo, Illinois and has more than 6 million members in over 170 countries. The Relief Society is one of the oldest and largest women’s organizations in the world. The motto of the Relief Society, taken from 1 Corinthians 13:8, is “Charity never faileth.” The official purpose of Relief Society is to “prepare women for the blessings of eternal life by helping them increase their faith and personal righteousness, strengthen families and homes, and help those in need”. Relief Society accomplishes these purposes through Sunday gospel instruction, other Relief Society meetings, visiting teaching, welfare and compassionate service to families inside and outside the church and volunteering within the members’ communities.

Dr. Bowman, a Doctor of Osteopathy at King’s Daughters Clinic in Morehead, and his wife, Ellie, gave a presentation on first aid and a demonstration which included identifying and addressing emergency situations. He grew up in the Paintsville Branch and his branch family are proud of the career path he has chosen and the contribution that he is making to society.

Dr. Bowman received his degree from the University of Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine and is the son of Tom & Barbara Bowman of Lowmansville.
