Jenny Wiley Theatre holding open auditions Saturday
Local auditions for JWT’s 50th Summer Season and 2014 spring/fall/holiday productions will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Jenny Wiley Studio Theatre, 218 Second Street, in Pikeville.
Scott Bradley, JWT Casting Director since 2001, will be casting its 50th anniversary season. This is a general, open audition for “How I Became a Pirate” (April-May ’14), “A Second Helping – The Church Basement Ladies Sequel,” “Peter Pan” and “South Pacific” (summer ’14), and “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas” (Nov-Dec ’14). All roles are open.
There are numerous opportunities for local Youth/Teen performers in this year’s selection of shows. Children and teens ages 8-18 are encouraged to audition. Please note, all youth/teen company acting positions are on an unpaid/volunteer basis.
Local and regional adult actors are encouraged to audition for a broad range of roles - lead, featured, supporting and ensemble. Opportunity exists for volunteer positions, as well as full season and individual paid show contracts.
JWT’s 50th Season runs from May 1 to Dec. 20.
In the event of bad weather, the alternate date for JWT Local Auditions is Saturday March 8, 2014 from 9am-3pm pm at the JWT Studio Theatre.
Please bring headshot and resume as well as sheet music for your selection, a pianist will be provided. Be prepared to perform a brief musical selection, preferably a musical theatre piece, and a short monologue appropriate to your age and comparable to the JWT season of shows. Total audition time should not exceed 90 seconds. Please note taped accompaniment is not acceptable and will not be allowed. A cappella singing is discouraged.
