PRESTONSBURG – The fall season of art exhibits begins today, August 19th at Big Sandy Community and Technical College Art Gallery, with a showing of the works of Letcher County artist Chris Day. The show will end with a reception for the artist September 19th at the gallery with refreshments and snacks being available.
Chris Day was born in the community of Jeremiah, Kentucky. After high school he attended the University of Kentucky, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After college he moved to North Carolina and pursued a career in photography. In 2006 Chris moved back to Jeremiah and began to paint again.
His work has been published in Quetzalcoatl Galleries “ABAD” Seattle”, and in R.F.D. Magazine. He has exhibited works in numerous galleries, including, The Art Institute of Chicago, National Art School Gallery in Sydney, Australia and The National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul, Korea. Locally, his art can be seen at the Appalachian Artisans Center in Hindman, Kentucky and The Underground Gallery in Whitesburg.
Chris Day has a collection of 40 works on display in the BSCTC. Art Gallery that is a retrospective from the early 1980s thru today. Chis cordially invites the public to attend his reception to chat about his art and answer any questions you may have.
