Kyle David Martin, son of Dr. David and Sabrina Martin, of Pikeville, originally of Floyd County, recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He has been active in Scouting since joining as a Tiger Cub nine years with Pack 12 and Troop 12 in Pikeville. He completed his Eagle Scout project last November in which he helped the local homeless shelter, Westcare Emergency Shelter. He held an awareness walk at Bob Amos Park in which he received over 1,500 items to donate to the shelter. He spoke on the radio and had articles in the papers for awareness, spoke to his fellow classmates at his high school about his project and received donations for the shelter from there as well. Finally, he hosted Thanksgiving dinner for the residents at the shelter. He earned his Eagle Rank on Jan. 14. His Eagle Scout Court of Honor, when this picture was taken, was March 15, where he was actually awarded his badge and medal. He was 15 at the time that he earned this rank.
