MOREHEAD – The Morehead State University men’s and women’s track and field programs have been named All-Academic Teams by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The awards follow both cross country teams’ All-Academic honor in the spring. The women’s track and field team previously earned the accolade in 2011.
“I’m really happy with how far the men have come over the past two seasons,” MSU Head Coach Brent Ericksen said. “They have raised their grade point average from 2.42 to 3.18, and I’m especially proud of how hard they worked to get there. The women continue to do a great job. We didn’t finish quite as high as last year, but they are still impressive with their 3.47 GPA.”
The men were one of just five Ohio Valley Conference teams tabbed for the award and among 111 teams nationally, while the women were listed alongside 187 programs nationally.
Seniors Lindsay Marcum and Natalie Norman and freshman Taylor Lowe earned a 2012-13 Ohio Valley Conference Academic Medal of Honor, which is awarded to student-athletes with the highest grade point average in their sport. Nine women and six men were named to the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, which honors student-athletes who achieve at least a 3.25 GPA for the previous school year.
