Georgetown, Lindsey Wilson ranked in NAIA Top-25

LOUISVILLE - Georgetown begins 2013 at No. 7 and Lindsey Wilson is No. 19 in the Tachikara-NAIA Preseason Coaches’ Top-25 Poll, NAIA officials announced on Tuesday.


Campbellsville is the third Mid-South team mentioned in the poll as the Tigers sit just outside the Top-25 but are receiving voting points.


Georgetown received 465 voting points from the national raters to climb five spots from where they ended the 2012 season. The Tigers enter the top-10 for the first time since the 2009 season.


Lindsey Wilson received 270 voting points to earn the program’s highest ranking ever.


Campbellsville picked up 16 voting points and is one of 17 teams in the receiving votes category.


Defending national champions Concordia (Calif.) is on top of the poll with 622 voting points, including 21 of the 22 first-place votes. Columbia (Mo.) is No. 2 with 597 voting points and the final first-place vote. Texas at Brownsville, Biola (Calif.) and Oklahoma Baptist completes the top five spots in the poll.


The national poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches representing either a conference or the independents.


The first regular season poll is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, Sept. 10.


UPIKE Volleyball Watch: The University of Pikeville volleyball team is scheduled to open the 2013 season in a tournament at Sewanee: The University of the South on Aug. 30.
