BETSY LAYNE - Betsy Layne senior Allie Meade registered her 1,000th kill in a volleyball game against 58th District/Floyd County Conference rival Piarist School on Thursday. Meade was presented the game ball immediately after the milestone kill. Betsy Layne blanked host Piarist School 3-0 in the district/conference match, winning 25-8, 25-20, 25-10.


Betsy Layne moving up 15th Region standings: Betsy Layne won its third straight match on Monday, edging 58th District/Floyd County Conference rival South Floyd 3-2. The Ladycats won 25-17, 25-13, 18-25, 16-25, 15-12.


With the win, Betsy Layne improved to 15-3. The Ladycats currently rank third in the 15th Region behind East Ridge (19-4) and reigning champion Allen Central.


Betsy Layne, a veteran team under the tutelage of head coach Christina Crase, was playing on the road at Belfry on Tuesday evening. Results from the Betsy Layne-Belfry volleyball match were unavailable at press time.


The Ladycats have regular-season matches remaining against Allen Central, Phelps, South Floyd, Letcher County Central,. Prestonsburg, Pike County Central, Johnson Central, Sheldon Clark, Paintsville and Shelby Valley. Betsy Layne is set to oinmpete in invitational tournaments at Paintsville and Ashland prior to end of the regular-season.
