UPIKE women’s golf team exits first round tied for third

PINEVILLE – Led by Katy Humphrey carding an 80, the University of Pikeville women’s golf team was tied for third place overall after the first round of the Union College Bulldog Invitational on Monday at the Wasioto Winds Golf Course.
The Bears shot 349 as a team to tie Point (Ga.) for third, host Union was seven strokes ahead in second with 342 strokes and St. Andrews was the leader with a 315.
Humphrey was tied with Bryan’s Kerrie Reinhardt for third place on the individual leaderboard, while St. Andrews’ Madison Moore was in first with 74 strokes, followed by her teammate Laura Kinsman with a 75.
Behind Humphrey for UPIKE was Brittany Brophy with an 85, Ashley Veach with 88, Christen Cropper at 96 and Laken McKinney with a 99.
Play resumed Tuesday morning with the final round of the women’s tournament. Play was suspended for the men due to darkness. The men’s teams were scheduled to finish both rounds on Tuesday. Results from Tuesday were unavailable at press time.
