Lady Eagles split doubleheader

PIPPA PASSES - The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team made the trek south to Powell, Tennessee on Friday, Oct. 11 to take on the Crown College Lady Royal Crusaders and the Welch College Lady Flames. A recap of the two matches follows.


ALC 0, CC 3: The first match pitted Alice Lloyd against Crown College. Host Crown College defeated the Lady Eagles 3-0, winning 25-9, 25-13 and 25-15.


Jessie Carter led ALC with three kills. Macy Allen and Katie McFarland added two kills apiece for the Lady Eagles. McFarland and Delaney Pritchard registered six digs for the ALC volleyball team.


ALC 3, WC 0: The nightcap featured Alice Lloyd College versus Welch College. The Lady Eagles blanked the Lady Flames 3-0, winning 25-16, 25-14 and 25-19.


Sarrah Huber had six kills for the Lady Eagles. Katie McFarland delivered five kills for the ALC volleyball team.


McFarland also contributed three digs.


“After many struggles and heartbreaking losses, we are pleased with the improvements our team has made,” Alice Lloyd Coach Jolene Watts said. “Their hard work and dedication paid off with the win over Welch, and we are very proud of them.”


The Lady Eagles will return to action on Friday in a tri-match at Berea College.
