BARDSTOWN – With one round of the 2013 St. Catharine Invitational in the books, the University of Pikeville women’s golf team was tied for fifth place after shooting a 340 at the Bardstown Country Club at Maywood on Monday.


Pikeville was tied with Cumberland (Tenn.) in the 12-team field, while Cumberlands (Ky.) was the team leader with 308 strokes, Madonna (Mich.) was second with 320 and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) was third after carding 331 strokes.


Katy Humphrey had the low round for the Bears, shooting a nine-over par 81 (41-40) to tie for 11th place overall. Brittany Brophy also shot well for UPIKE, and sat in a tie for 14th place with an 82 (38-44).


Ashley Veach was the only other Bear to join them in the top 25 after carding an 84 (44-40) to tie for 21st place.


Bri-Anne Tokariwski of Cumberlands (Ky.) was the individual leader with a 74 (36-38) and was followed in second place by her teammate Shannon Bishop with a 75 (37-38).
