PRESTONSBURG - The Allen Lady Eagles shook off a slow start on Tuesday to defeat Allen Central 42-9 at Adams Middle School and win the Floyd County B-Team girls’ basketball title.


After the first quarter concluded with the two teams tied 7-7, Allen held Allen Central scoreless in each of the next two periods.


The Lady Eagles blanked Allen Central 15-0 in the second quarter to lead 22-7 at halftime. Allen remained in control early in the second half, outscoring Allen Central 16-0 in the third quarter.


Allen Central broke its scoring drought with two points in the final period. Allen held a slim 4-2 scoring advantage over the Lady Eagles in the fourth quarter.


Reesce Endicott paced Allen with 14 points. Aliyah Newsome accompanied Endicott in double figures, finishing with 13 points.


Kassie Jarvis scored eight points and Kaitlyn Newsome netted seven for the Lady Eagles.


Allen turned in a solid defensive effort, recording 25 steals and five blocks.


The Lady Eagles grabbed 20 rebounds en route to capturing the championship.
