PIKEVILLE - Mason County High School’s Lauren Vice signed an NAIA scholarship to join the University of Pikeville women’s golf team for the 2014-15 season, UPIKE head coach Nelson Scott announced on Monday.
Vice is a seven-year member of the varsity team at Mason County, who also played on the Northern Kentucky 7UP Junior Tour for five years, including a tour championship in 2012.
By shooting one-under par to win the Central Kentucky Conference Tournament, Vice broke the Mason County school record and finished second overall at the eighth-region tournament. She was 11th at the state tournament with all-state points.
Vice, who has been Mason County’s MVP the past three seasons, has other top finishes at the Ladies Chippeways Golf Tournament in Maysville, where she finished first, as well as five straight first-place finishes in the Bryan Conway Junior Golf Tournament.
The daughter of Melissa and Terry Vice, Lauren plans to major in Biology at UPIKE with future plans to attend medical school.
