Sheldon Clark ousts Rebels

PIKEVILLE - Sheldon Clark jumped out to an 11-point lead in the opening quarter and kept some distance between itself and Allen Central in the opening round of the 15th Region All “A” Classic on Saturday, defeating the Rebels 57-41.


Junior guard Chase Parsley, the top-ranked player in the 15th Region All “A” Classic, paced Sheldon Clark with a game-high 16 points. Freshman guard Dylan James scored 13 points and junior guard Trevor Blackburn netted 10 for the Cardinals.


Sheldon Clark outscored Allen Central 15-4 in the opening quarter and led 28-14 at intermission.


The Cardinals extended their lead after the half, outscoring Allen Central 17-12 in the third quarter.


Freshman guard/forward Ethan Osborne drained a pair of 3-point field goals in the first half and added eight points for Sheldon Clark in the win.


Heath Maynard scored four points, Colby Muncy tossed in three, Eric Sartin netted two and Mark Tiller reached the scoring column on a made free throw for the Cardinals.


Allen Central had to play from behind throughout the tournament game.


Senior guard Austin Salisbury led Allen Central with a team-high 13 points. Junior Handshoe, another senior guard, joined Salisbury in double figures, finishing with 10 points.


Seth Hall had seven points, Braxton Tackett five, Mason Nelson four and Cameron Hamilton two for the Rebels.
