HI HAT - South Floyd snapped a five-game losing streak on Monday, toppling visiting Piarist School 89-46 in a 58th District/Floyd County Conference boys’ basketball game at Raider Arena.
The Raiders posted their first win in 2014.
Five South Floyd players reached double figures in the scoring column. JR Tackett led South Floyd with 20 points. Just behind Tackett in the South Floyd scoring column, Austin Bailey netted 19 points.
Tyler Daniels scored 16 points while Michael Martin and Hunter Johnson added 10 apiece for the resurgent Raiders.
South Floyd took control early, outscoring Piarist 19-9 in the first quarter. The Raiders led 46-26 at halftime and outscored Piarist 29-14 in the third period.
Toby Tackett (three points), Mack Little (two points) and Brady Ousley (three points) also provided scoring for South Floyd in the convincing win.
Tyler Stumbo led Piarist School with a game-high 23 points. Michael Williams joined Stumbo in double figures, scoring 18 points for the Knights.
Skylar Williams scored three points and Subhash Gutti tossed in two for the Knights.
The Raiders completed a regular-season sweep of the Piarist School boys’ basketball team. When the two teams met in a season-opener on Dec. 3, South Floyd pulled away to beat the Knights 88-50.
