PRESTONSBURG - Host Prestonsburg didn’t have any trouble getting past 58th District/Floyd County Conference rival Piarist School on Monday. The Blackcats pulled away to win convincingly, prevailing 76-37.
With the win, Prestonsburg improved to 12-10 overall and 5-2 in the district/conference.
As a result of the loss, Piarist slipped to 1-13 overall and 0-8 in the district/conference.
Nine different Prestonsburg players broke into the scoring column. Sophomore Dalton Frasure led the way, exiting the district/conference contest with a game-high 22 points. Frasure also corralled a team-high eight rebounds.
Jarredd Jarrell scored 20 points and Jarin Hall added 13 points for the Blackcats.
Prestonsburg shot 41.7 percent (30 of 72) from the field. The Blackcats were 11 of 28 (39.3 percent) from 3-point range.
Prestonsburg was five of 13 from the foul line.
Other scorers for Prestonsburg were Aaron Foley (five points), Bailey Slone (five points), Tanner Hicks (three points), Blade Slone (three points), Scott Stapleton (three points) and Grant Martin (two points).
Prestonsburg controlled the glass, outrebounding Piarist 49-36.
Three players accounted for all of Piarist’s scoring.
Micheal Williams paced Piarist with 16 points. Following closely behind Williams in the Piarist scoring column, Tyler Stumbo tossed in 15 points for the Knights. Piarist’s third scorer, Galvin Greene, contributed six points.
Greenee led Piarist inside, securing a game-high 14 rebounds,
Just missing a double-double, Williams secured nine rebounds to go along with his team-best 16 points.
