BETSY LAYNE - Betsy Layne swept visiting South Floyd in a 58th District/Floyd County Conference basketball doubleheader on Friday night.


In the girls’ game, Betsy Layne pulled away to beat South Floyd 63-21. The Ladycats posted their second straight win and won for the fourth time in five games. The Betsy Layne girls’ basketball team also earned a sweep over South Floyd in the two teams’ annual regular-season series.


Betsy Layne also prevailed in the nightcap, defeating South Floyd 64-51 in a 58th District/Floyd County Conference boys’ basketball matchup. The Bobcats beat South Floyd for their second straight victory, winning for the sixth time in six outings. Betsy Layne also swept South Floyd on the boys’ side.


Betsy Layne senior guard Dylan Meade and junior guard Peyton Case were presented with all-tournament plaques from the Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic. The Bobcats reached the semifinals of the small school statewide tournament. Upstart Cordia, the champion out of the neighboring 14th Region, defeated Betsy Layne in the semifinals of the Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic.


Betsy Layne will visit Prestonsburg for a district/conference doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 14.
