PIPPA PASSES - The KIAC coaches selected Alice Lloyd College forward Ariel Nickell as the conference player of the year and Asbury University head coach Bart Flener as the conference coach of the year, conference officials announced Thursday. She earned the conference’s top player award for the second straight year.

Nickell, the top scorer in Alice Lloyd College history, led ALC to a 17-10 overall record and 12-6 conference record. The Eagles entered the KIAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed.

Nickell was near the top in the conference and nationally in several statistical categories. She ranked first in NAIA Division II in rebounds per game (13.538) and second in points per game (25.808). She also ranked ninth in 3-point field goal percentage (42.3), which led the KIAC. Nickell ranked seventh in the KIAC in field goal percentage (48.4) and was third in free throw percentage (76.7).

Nickell was selected as the KIAC Player of the Week twice this season.

Alice Lloyd College junior guard Carla Booth, a Sheldon Clark High School graduate, joined Nickell on the All-Conference team.

Cincinnati Christian University junior Amanda Baute was selected as the newcomer of the year after transferring to CCU for her junior season. Baute ranked third in the conference in points per game (20.67), first in field goal percentage (54.4), fourth in steals per game (2.33) and third in rebounds per game (10.37). She also ranks 10th in NAIA Division II points per game and rebounds per game.
