GEORGETOWN - High school basketball players from around the state have been invited to tryout for Kentucky all-star teams. Invitees and dates were announced Wednesday for tryouts for the Kentucky All-Stars basketball teams, which will make debuts later in the year.
Among the invitees for the senior tryouts are Johnson Central’s Shane Hall and Shelby Valley’s Tyler Carr.
After leading Johnson Central to back-to-back 15th Region titles, Hall is a finalist for Kentucky Mr. Basketball. He has signed with Marshall University.
Unsigned, Carr led Shelby Valley to the 59th District championship.
Jamie Castle (Magoffin County) and Rachel Potter (Pikeville) have been invited to the girls’ tryouts.
The Kentucky all-star squads will compete against Indiana teams in the states’ annual classic this June.
Junior boys and girls tryouts will be held April 12. The senior boys and girls will follow, trying out on April 13. All tryouts are by invitation only and will be held at Georgetown College.
The Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches will coordinate the tryouts and choose players for this summer’s games.
In January, the Bluegrass Sports Commission and the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation announced a three-year contract for Kentucky’s games in the all-star classics to be played in Lexington.
This year’s games will be held at Transylvania University in the Beck Center on June 13.
