PIKEVILLE - Longtime basketball official Ted Hall was honored during the 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament Semifinals at the East Kentucky Expo Center in Pikeville last week. Hall, who hails from Prestonsburg, started officiating high school basketball in 1971 and took his place as one of the 15th Region’s top all-time officials last week when he was named to the 15th Region Basketball Officials Hall of Fame. A veteran official, Hall officiated high school and college games for 23 years.

During his career as a basketball official, Hall officiated in 22 district tournaments, 19 region tournaments and an All “A” Classic statewide tournament. He also officiated Paintsville- Ashland- and Greenup County-hosted high school tournaments and KIAC (Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) games.

Current Prestonsburg Elementary School Principal Brent Rose presented Hall with a plaque to commemorate him being honored as one of the 15th Region’s top all-time basketball officials. A former referee, Rose worked his first high school basketball game with Hall.

This year’s 15th Region Basketball Officials Hall of Fame class also included Pike Countians Ancie Casey and Keith Hall. Hershell Conn (2008), Phillip Tucker (2013) and Bill Hall (2013) are also members of the 15th Region Basketball Officials Hall of Fame.
