PIKEVILLE – Most collegiate bowling programs would be happy to reach the national finals just once in its history, but the University of Pikeville women’s team went a step further, reaching the xBowling ITC finals for a second straight season.
That feat comes in at No. 2 in UPIKE’s Top-10 Moments of 2013-14 list. While the two-time ITC champion Bears came up short against No. 2-seed Robert Morris (Ill.), the runner-up finish for the eighth-seeded Bears was still a fantastic run.
It put UPIKE on a national stage once again as the CBS Sports Network taped the event for replay and saw KT Simpson be named the events’ most valuable player.
UPIKE was the only team left at the ITC’s without a loss when it reached the finals, beating powerful programs like Wichita State (Kan.), Maryland Eastern Shore and Grand View (Iowa) along the way.
