ALLEN - The Allen Central High School baseball team reeled off three straight wins last week, defeating non-district opponents Magoffin County, Buckhorn and Paintsville in games played at Stumbo Park. Allen Central defeated Buckhorn and Paintsville in back-to-back games late last week. Former assistant coach Chad Hall is in his first season as Allen Central head coach. Allen Central 12, Buckhorn 1 (5 innings): Host Allen Central rolled past Buckhorn late last week, defeating the Wildcats 12-1 in five innings Friday evening.
Allen Central freshman Tanner Hamilton was the winning pitcher. Hamilton excelled during a solid outing for the Rebels.
Buckhorn junior pitcher John Stidham suffered the loss.
Hamilton had a double and Jacob Prater legged out a triple in Allen Central’s win.
Junior Handshoe, Tyler Cole and Dillon Lawson each had two RBI for the Rebels.
Allen Central was very efficient, scoring its 12 runs via 12 hits.
The Rebels played error-free baseball in the field.
Following a six-run effort, Allen Central led Buckhorn 10-0 at the end of the third inning.
Allen Central held Buckhorn scoreless until the top half of the fifth inning. The Wildcats were limited to one run on two hits in the lopsided loss.
Struggling defensively, Buckhorn committed four errors.
Allen Central 6, Paintsville 2: The Rebels plated five runs in the sixth inning en route to a 6-2 victory over 15th Region counterpart Paintsville Saturday.
Allen Central freshman pitcher Dillon Lawson claimed the win.Paintsville senior pitcher Jordan Stewart suffered the loss.
Allen Central scored six runs via nine hits. The Rebels enjoyed multiple multi-hit innings.
The Rebels were flawless in the field, playing error-free
Allen Central scored the game’s first run in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Following the five-run outburst, Allen Central led 6-0.
Gage Parsons led Allen Central offensively. Parsons smacked a home run for the Floyd County Conference/58th District squad. Parsons provided a game-high three RBI for the Rebels.
Jacob Prater connected on a double for Allen Central in the non-district game.
Prior to falling short, Paintsville pushed across both of their runs in the top half of the seventh inning.
Stewart had a double and fellow senior Josh Moore registered an RBI for the Tigers.
Allen Central was facing Prestonsburg in the 15th Region All “A” Classic at Shelby Valley Tuesday evening. Results from the Allen Central-Prestonsburg game were unavailable at press time.
