Andy B. Tackett, 69, of Betsy Layne, died on June 25, 2011, at his residence. Born September 2, 1942, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Ellis and Mellie Bentley Tackett and husband of Norma Jean Bryant Tackett. He was a coal miner and a member of the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son: Brian (Jennifer) Tackett, of Harold; one daughter: Pamela (Russell) Lewis, of Betsy Layne; brothers: Georgie Tackett of Teaberry, Orville Tackett and Terry Tackett, both of Beaver; sisters: Sarah Faye Hamilton, Wanda Hamilton, and Beatrice Hall, of Teaberry, Dixie McKinney, of Harold, and Eileen Tussey, of Beaver; grandchildren: Kelly Akers, Richie Tackett, Tyler Tackett: great grandchildren; Alexis Akers, Keira Akers, Weston Tackett

He was preceded in death by one son Richie Tackett; brothers; Arnold Tackett and Donald Tackett: sisters; Edith Jones, Maudie Tackett and Wilma Tackett.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 28, at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin. Burial followed at the Tackett Cemetery, in Harold.

Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
