The Music Department of Big Sandy Community and Technical College along with The Big Sandy Singers wish to invite anyone in the eastern Kentucky area to participate in their first Community Christmas Chorus. Men, women, teens, and children, ages 8 to 100, are welcome to be a part of this fun, Christmas event where we will all gather to sing songs celebrating the Christmas season.

There are four rehearsals scheduled for the Chorus: three consecutive Mondays - Nov. 19, Nov. 26, and Dec. 3. Practice will be at 4:30 p.m. for children (ages 8-12) and 6:00 p.m. for teens & adults. Children are welcome to stay to be a part of the teen and adult chorus as well. There is one additional dress rehearsal scheduled for Thurs., Dec. 6 at 6:00 p.m., and the Community Christmas Chorus will present their show on Friday, Dec. 7, at Gearheart Auditorium in the Pike Building, on the BSCTC Prestonsburg Campus. Gearheart Auditorium is also the location of the rehearsals.

Children ages 8-12 can be a part of the chorus as members of the “Little Sandy Singers.” Only 30 children can be a part of this group, so if you want to register your child, please register soon by emailing Director Laura Ford Hall, at laura.hall@kctcs.edu<mailto:laura.hall@kctcs.edu>, with your child’s name, age, address, and phone number. Registration will be open for one week… until Nov. 16. There is a $25 fee for children to join The Little Sandy Singers Christmas Program. This cost covers all instructional material, costuming, and vocal lessons and instruction.

“Adults also need to register so we can prepare the amount of music and material that is needed,” said Ford-Hall. Adults have a minimal $5 fee to cover music and instructional material. Adults should also register at laura.hall@kctcs.edu<mailto:laura.hall@kctcs.edu> with your name, address, and phone numbers.

“I am so very excited about sharing in the Christmas season in song with others in our community,” Ford-Hall added. “Everyone is welcome and there is no singing experience necessary… if people love to sing, then they are invited to be a part of our Christmas Chorus. I hope we have a big turn out and I look forward to directing this special program.”

The BSCTC Music Program is sponsored by Premiere Sponsor Gearheart Communications of Harold and Gold Sponsor Jennifer Reynolds State Farm of Crossroads Plaza, Pikeville.

If you have questions, please email Ford-Hall or call (606) 424-2498, and leave a message.
