Fred Johnson, 89, of Melvin, died Saturday, October 31, 2009, at the Riverview Health Care, in Prestonsburg.
Born in Weeksbury, March 22, 1920, he was the son of the late Joe and Eliza Johnson. He was a disabled laborer.
He is survived by his wife, Mallie Caudill Johnson.
Other survivors include a brother, Wavie Johnson of Virgie; four sisters: Josie Little of Virgie; Ruby Dale Salomone and Dorothy Little, both of Michigan; and Pearl Harris of Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Johnson; and his brothers and sisters: Rush Johnson, Johnny Johnson, Ballard Johnson, Fronie Johnson, and Carrie Hall.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 4, at noon, at the Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church, in Melvin, with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Matthew Tackett Cemetery, in Melvin, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin.
Visitation was after noon, Monday, at the church.
